Any questions?
Is it okay if for #39, we don't use the integral test but use upper and lower bounded series to bound a given series? Also, is it okay if we assume that any polynomial x^k will eventually become smaller than e^x?
Yes - Tom Morley
Q: What is the new HW (#2) that we have to do? And we dont turn this homework in, correct?
Will the quiz on thursday cover all the other different tests that we did not go over in class?
A: HW 2 is due Tuesday 4th, but is not collected. The TAs will go over it in class. Quiz 1 is based on HW1, HW2, and whatever we went over in lecture - Tom Morley
Q: It seems like Tegrity doesn't play well with Firefox. Has anyone else noticed the same issue? http://www.heaveninhere.com/forums/images/smilies/Computers/Firefox%20Avatar.gif
A: You have to use internet explorer- Russ Krenek TA A5
Q: How can you download the lectures/TA sessions to your PC? I am using internet explorer and after it finishes downloading it extracts and everything, but then it wont play...any suggestions??
A: Once you download it and extract all the files look in the broadcast folder and it should show the video file, there, What I did was just keep the video file and delete everything else, so basically I just have the videos, which covers all the material anyways.
Wow that was in no way grammatically correct. Sorry, I wasn't thinking. Here are the steps:
1) Extract files
2) Open the folder
3) Click on class
4) Click on broadcast
5) Search for a video format file
6) Play the file
(These are the steps that I used for the Tegrity Session Wednesday, August 29, so they may not be the exact same for you, but I think it should still be in the broadcast folder.)
Q:Will you be posting old quizzes by any chance?
A:Click under Fall 2007 TA's under my name. In the uploads section is an old quiz from 2 years ago. I also posted a formula sheet of calc 1 stuff and also series and convergence tests in pdf format for download. Good luck on the quiz Thursday.- Russ Krenek TA section A5
For the homework on Simpson's rule, do we use the composite rule that uses (1/180) or simpson's rule that uses (1/2880)?
Composite Rule
Q: What exactly does "work by series" mean?
What exactly is the formula for the Simpson's Error? I'm having trouble finding exactly what it is. Wikipedia doesn't give an "n" variable in its formula.
Q: What is a CAS, as referred to on problem #23 on HW#4?
a CAS is a computer aided system or in layman's terms it means to use a calculator for the problem.-Russ Krenek TA A5
Sometimes called Computer Algebra System
CAS ~anonymous
can you exempt the final for this class?
I think a more important question is, "Can you?"
can one exempt the final for this class?
I doubt that they would only let one person exempt.....
So what exactly will this quiz Thursday cover? (i.e. what sections, etc). I was looking at Mr. Krenek's uploaded Quiz #2, and I feel like there's stuff on there that we haven't learned yet...
Q: So what exactly will this quiz Thursday cover? (i.e. what sections, etc.). I was looking at Mr. Krenek's uploaded Quiz #2, and I feel like there's stuff on there that we haven't learned yet...
He said no trapezoidal or simpson's, correct? So is it mainly just dot product and cross product with vectors, no integration involved?
Will it cover anything from the homework that was due yesterday?
Yes.
Will the recent lectures be posted online?
Can I exempt the final for this class?
Finally we're getting somewhere! But wait, who is I?
For HW#6, is the last question supposed to say follow the operations for RF and FR, not RF again? Thanks in advance!
Professor Morley, do you know if our most recent quiz will be curved?
Can a student of yours [Professor Morley] exempt the final exam for this class?
look, we're back in the same place. Why would only one student be allowed to exempt?
Yes. (curved)
Yes (exempt) - Tom Morley
There are two questions on on FR and one on RF - Tom Morley
where can i see the grade i have in the class?
Average (for instance 17 on 2nd quiz = B - Tom Morley
What is required of Professor Morley's Calculus II/III students in order for them to have the ability to exempt the final exam for this class?
I don't know. Do you you have the ability? You tell me.
If I have the requirements, which I have asked of you (Dr. Morley), then I do have the ability. So what are the requirements, Dr. Morley?
I would like to make it known that the last bit of harassment was not my work, but that of another.
The requirements are: that you work hard in this course, and that you demonstrate concept mastery on the exams. A student who is exempt from the final should know the material well enough to teach the class.
When is the lecture from 10/05/07 going to be added to the website?
This class is awesome!
Q: Who do we contact about the lectures that haven't been posted online, again? I've misplaced the email address that you gave us on Wednesday.
Q: When is our next quiz????
Professor Morley where is the link for our project?
What is the average grade that one must have gotten on the first two quizzes, in order to have an A in the course?
Can we distance students see our grades?

just to name a few
Does the computer project have to be done in groups?
Is there a way to view the TA lectures from home? Specifically, Yorgos' lectures?
Of course! Just look at the homepage for this calc class
http://coweb.math.gatech.edu:8888/distance
Then scroll down a bit...

How many more quizzes will we have?
Hey I was wondering if you could make an overload for your Calc 3 class for next term.
What are the chances of more lectures being posted on T-Square or someplace that is somewhat functional with other browsers?
I've tried konqueror, firefox, and opera, Tegrity won't run in linux.
We've been over this man. Remember when I complained about tegrity not playing well with firefox? They don't even have the capability to make it compatible... They didn't write the software in the first place. It's a good thing I dual boot!
How do we know if we can get exempt or not?
For HW13... I take it the last problem should be "3.10" and not "2.10"?
What TIME exactly are the student web pages due?
Are there any opportunities for Extra Credit?
Will we be informed if we can exempt the final?
Are there going to be any review sessions for the final?
REVIEW SESSION: VAN LEER AT 7:00PM MONDAY TA: RUSS KRENEK
Are our grades posted anywhere? I have no idea what my homework average is or what I received on the website project.
Email your TA to find out your grades and current average.
What is the cut off for an A, B, C, etc...?
Where is the exam? Is it in the lecture hall or the recitation rooms?
It's in the lecture hall.
will we be able to see our grade on the final as well as our course grade? if so where?
