Notes from conference calls

PRESIDENTS: Lisa Rossbacher (confirmed), Martha Nesbit (Mary Lynn has talked with her assistant and she will get back in touch with ML to confirm), Dorothy Lord (Mary Lynn has talked to her assistant and at this point there are no conflicts - she will contact Mary Lynn if there is a conflict), Beverley Tatum (who will contact her??). NOTE: we need to invite other presidents and confirm their participation.

Anny Morrobel-Sosa, Dean, Allen E. Paulson College of Science & Technology, Georgia Southern (see below).

Lesia Crumpton-Young (see below), Chair, Industrial Eng & Management Systems, University of Central Florida (I heard her speak about budgeting, but she has also given talks on negotiation and other topics).

Item: Brochure have been reviewed and approved with changes - Membership Chair address will be reflected on the brochure rather than the Treasurer.
Action: Mary Lynn Realff will make the changes and have the brochure printed and ready for distribution at fall meetings

Item: The Vice President for Membership, Dr. Sandra Stone, will collect new memberships, add names and addresses to the mailing list, and forward the checks to Marie Dent, treasurer.
Action: A suggestion was made to develop a renewal notification process and develop a new membership package. Who will be doing this?
Action: Marie Dent has the most current membership list, she will forward this information to Sandra Stone.

Action: Ruth Bettendorf and her conference committee will put the contacted speakers into the most appropriate format to fit the conference.

Item: Do we need to have a face to face meeting this summer?
Action: Mary Lynn will initiate a group decision via e-mail.
















Okim Kang is the 2005 scholarship winner. Was it suggested that she attend the conference to share how she has used the scholarship?

Anny Morrobel-Sosa

Dr. Anny Morrobel-Sosa joined Georgia Southern University in July 2003 as the new Dean of the Allen E. Paulson College of Science and Technology. A native of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Morrobel-Sosa received a B.Sc. degree in Physics and Chemistry from the University of Puerto Rico (1976), M.Sc. in Chemistry from the State University of New York-Stony Brook (1985) and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Southern California (1985). Her graduate research work was on laser spectroscopy of organic molecular solids and synthesis and magnetic relaxation properties of organic conducting polymers. Dr. Morrobel-Sosa also conducted post-doctoral research on photo-induced magnetic properties of organic superconductors at San Jose State University before joining the Chemistry faculty at The University of Alabama in 1985. While at the University of Alabama, her research interests focused on the study of high-temperature superconductivity. Dr. Morrobel-Sosa returned to California in 1990, and as Professor of Materials Engineering at Cal Poly she continued research efforts focused on the study of defects in semiconductors and superconductors through muon resonance spectroscopy at Los Alamos National Laboratory. In 1994, Dr. Morrobel-Sosa was selected as the first recipient of the Pacesetter Faculty Exchange Fellowship to engage in research and development of biomaterials for pacemaker applications while at Pacesetter, Inc., a St. Jude Medical Company. Dr. Morrobel-Sosa was also selected a Fellow of the American Council on Education and spent a year as an intern to the President of the University of Delaware in 1998. Upon her return to Cal Poly, Dr. Morrobel-Sosa served as Special Assistant to the Provost and later as Associate Vice Provost for Academic Programs. http://cost.georgiasouthern.edu/dean/bio/
