xt>!!!Road Trippin' To the Textile Show

Our amazingly fun textile trip started on Friday, March 24. Our group drove up to the Cobb Galleria for the North American TechTextile Show and proceeded to the front gates. From there, we entered into the world of Textiles.

The massive arena was filled with Textile producers from around the globe. Ranging from Australia to Germany and from Spain and France to Canada. Each country had representatives from their big name companies. Not only were these companies displaying their quality goods that were for sell, they were also recruiting new talent.

Each company had various samples such as apparal, fabric, and many handouts and freebies for visitors. One Company that caught our attention was Subrenat. Their business is basically weaving all types of fabrics and over 2000 products. They are known for constantly devolping new technical process in order to improve their products, such as micro porous coatings, flame-retardant treatments, and antibackterial compounds. We found it interesting that they controll the entire fabric production chain from start to finish. They export to Europe and Africa more than half of their products from their French location.

Overall we found the show quite interesting, and were excited that we could be a part of something that rarely makes its way to North America. We have to say though, that the HighTex Dancers from Germany were the most unusual part of the show. We hope that we will one day be able to travel to its next location.
